Skinner's Field & Trial Working 30 – 15kg
The highest-energy dry food Skinner's make: 30% protein, 20% fat and 393 kcal per 100g, for dogs that work long days and burn it off. Skinner's now call it Working 30 — it is the food many owners still know as Superior.
The 15kg sack is the sensible buy for a kennel or a working household feeding through a season. It is wheat free, with maize and naked oats carrying the carbohydrate rather than rice.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Crude protein 30% and crude fat 20% — the top of the Field & Trial dry range for energy density.
- 393 kcal per 100g, so a hard-working dog holds condition on a smaller bowl than a lower-energy food would need.
- Poultry meat meal leads the composition, with dried egg adding a second highly digestible protein source.
- Wheat free: maize and naked oats supply the carbohydrate.
- Joint and gut ingredients are declared in the recipe — glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, MOS, FOS, seaweed and yucca.
- Beet pulp and a herb blend for digestive fibre.
Suitable For
- Highly active working dogs needing a high level of protein and fat.
- Trialling and long field days where the workload is sustained over weeks.
- Bitches in whelp and through lactation.
- Dogs recovering from illness that need to put weight back on.
- Dogs sensitive to wheat.
- Not for a pet dog in light exercise — Skinner's Field & Trial Maintenance is the low-energy food in the same range.
Feeding
- Feed straight from the bag, or moisten a few minutes before serving with a small amount of tepid water.
- Skinner's publish their daily amounts on the pack and through an interactive feeding guide on their own website rather than as a printed table, so none are quoted here.
- Adjust the amount to your dog's weight, condition and current workload, and bring it down out of season.
- Change over from another food gradually across about a week.
- Keep fresh drinking water available at all times.
- Sold VAT free under the working dog food classification — a tax treatment, not a statement about the recipe or about which dogs it suits.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: poultry meat meal, maize, poultry fat, naked oats, beet pulp, dried egg, vitamins and minerals, cellulose powder, brewers yeast, herb blend, with MOS, FOS, glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, seaweed and yucca.
- Analytical constituents: crude protein 30%, crude fat 20%, crude fibres 3%, crude ash 7.8%.
- Energy content (ME) 393 kcal per 100g.
- Nutritional additives per kg: vitamin A 13,000 IU, vitamin D3 2,000 IU, vitamin E 310mg, taurine 100mg, plus iron, iodine, copper, manganese, zinc and selenium.
- Listings elsewhere give the ingredients as chicken and white rice. Skinner's declare poultry meat meal, maize and naked oats, with no rice in the recipe; the figures above are Skinner's own.
Care & Caution
- At 20% fat and 393 kcal per 100g this is a hard-working dog's ration. Fed to a dog in light exercise it will put weight on quickly.
- Step a dog down onto a lower-energy food when the season ends rather than simply cutting the bowl size, so the vitamin and mineral intake stays right.
