A strawberry-print coir insert, 53cm by 23cm and 1.5cm thick, made to sit in a Smart Garden rubber Decoir frame. The mat you see is the insert only; the frame is a separate purchase and is what holds the insert in place and gives the finished mat its edge.

The appeal of the system is that the insert is the part that wears out, and it is the cheap part. When the coir flattens after a couple of winters, or when the strawberries stop amusing you, the insert comes out and a new one drops in.

How to Use

• Drop the insert coir-side up into the recess of a Smart Garden rubber Decoir frame.
• Without a frame, use it only on a dry, level floor; a loose insert will slide on wet tiles.
• Leave it to dry, then shake or brush the dirt out. Never wash, hose or machine it.
• Do not let it sit in a puddle — soaked coir rots from the backing up.
• Reverse it end to end from time to time so the entry end does not wear out first.
