SPILLERS Shine+ Conditioning Mix – 20kg

Shine+ is the show-ring conditioning mix: 12.0 MJ/kg with 6% oil, built to put covering on a horse and bring the coat up with it. Oil does more for a coat than any supplement poured on top of a diet, and 6% in the mix itself is a meaningful level rather than a token.

Starch sits at 18%, lower than a traditional conditioning mix, so it builds condition with less of the sharpness that usually comes with it. Vitamin E is 450 iu/kg, which is not incidental — a high-oil diet raises the antioxidant requirement, and Spillers have balanced for it. Protein is 14% for topline, with live yeast for the hindgut.

Feeding

• Introduce gradually over seven to ten days.
• 500kg horse: 3kg daily, split across a minimum of two meals, plus forage.
• 600kg horse: 3.5–5kg daily, split across a minimum of two meals, plus forage.
• A Stubbs scoop holds roughly 1.5kg.
• Reweigh or tape the horse fortnightly and adjust as the condition comes back.

• Composition: flaked barley, sunflower seed meal dehulled, wheatfeed, oatfeed, grass high temperature dried, cane molasses and soya oil blend, rice bran, flaked maize, flaked peas, rapeseed oil, calcium carbonate, molasses blend, salt, with added vitamins, minerals and probiotic live yeast.

Care & Caution

• At 18% starch this is not suitable for a horse or pony prone to laminitis or diagnosed with insulin dysregulation or PPID.
• Split the daily amount across at least two meals. A conditioning feed given in one large bucket pushes undigested starch into the hindgut.
