The Buffalo Co. Buffalo Lung Steaks – 100g
Air-dried lung, cut into flat steaks and slowly dried until it is firm but still gives under a dog's teeth. Lung has an open, spongy structure, so it tears rather than shatters — a dog can get properly stuck into it without the tooth risk that comes with horn or bone.
That texture is what makes it useful at both ends of a dog's life: puppies past weaning and older dogs with tired teeth manage lung when they cannot manage a dense sinew. At 75% protein and 9% fat it is lean enough to hand out as a training reward without unbalancing the day's feeding.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 100g of air-dried buffalo lung and nothing else.
- 75% crude protein and 9% crude fat — high protein, moderate fat.
- Open, spongy texture that tears apart instead of splintering.
- Breaks down cleanly into smaller training-sized pieces by hand.
- Free-range, grass-fed buffalo, with no additives, preservatives or colours.
- Single-protein treat, which makes it easy to fit into an exclusion diet.
Suitable For
- Dogs of all sizes, from puppies past weaning to seniors.
- Older dogs and dogs with worn teeth that cannot manage a hard chew.
- High-value training rewards, broken into pieces.
- Dogs on a single-protein or elimination diet, where buffalo is a novel protein.
- Not a long-lasting chew — a determined chewer will finish a steak quickly, and The Buffalo Co. Buffalo Horn or Buffalo Paddywack is the better choice there.
Feeding
- Feed as a complementary treat alongside a complete, balanced diet.
- Break the steaks down into smaller pieces for training or for a small dog.
- Reduce the day's main meal to allow for what is fed as treats.
- Provide fresh drinking water, and supervise while your dog is eating it.
- Store in a cool, dry place once the pack is opened.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% buffalo lung.
- Crude protein 75%. Crude fat 9%. Crude ash 2%. Moisture 10%.
- The Buffalo Co. publish no crude fibre figure and no calorie figure for this product, so neither is stated here.
- Sold here under the title Beef Lung Steaks; The Buffalo Co. list it as Buffalo Lung Steaks and declare it 100% buffalo lung, which is the composition given above.
- The Buffalo Co. also sell the same lung in a 1kg bag; this listing is the 100g pack.
Care & Caution
- Supervise while your dog is eating, and take away any last piece small enough to be bolted whole.
- A single-ingredient offal treat is rich. Introduce it gradually with a dog that has a delicate stomach.
