Thunderbrook Daily Essentials – 1.5kg

Daily Essentials is Thunderbrook's balancer for horses that need the vitamins and minerals but emphatically not the calories. Thunderbrook call it the ultimate negligible-calorie balancer, and it is formulated to cover the full daily requirement of the main vitamins, minerals, probiotics and nutrients on top of an average UK forage diet.

The 1.5kg tub is the smallest of the three sizes Thunderbrook make. At their 50g rate for a pony or horse of 250–500kg it is about thirty days; at 25g for a small pony it is nearer sixty. That makes it the size to buy while you are still finding out whether a horse will eat it, rather than the size to commit a season to.

Performance & Benefits
  • Negligible sugar, starch and calories — the product balances the diet without feeding weight on.
  • Lysine and methionine, the two essential amino acids Thunderbrook say UK forage most often lacks.
  • Naturally sourced vitamins rather than synthetic forms.
  • Vitamin E and selenium as antioxidants, with high levels of B vitamins for metabolism.
  • A full daily dose of live yeast (Yeasacc 1026) for the hindgut.
  • Chelated minerals for absorption, and no added iron or manganese — Thunderbrook's reasoning is that UK forage already supplies enough of both.
  • Added biotin for hoof horn.
<>
Suitable For
  • Good-doers and horses prone to putting weight on.
  • Horses on forage-only or restricted diets that still need a full vitamin and mineral supply.
  • Horses that must be kept off sugar and starch — adding negligible amounts of both is Thunderbrook's stated reason for the formulation.
  • Owners trying Daily Essentials for the first time, which is what this size is for.
  • Not a conditioning feed. A horse that needs to gain weight wants Thunderbrook Gentle Gain alongside this, not instead of it.

Feeding
  • Pony up to 250kg: 25g a day, one level scoop.
  • Pony or horse 250–500kg: 50g a day, two scoops.
  • Horse 500–750kg: 75g a day, three scoops.
  • Mix into a damp feed — Thunderbrook suggest their own Healthy Herbal Chaff or Muesli — and dampen well.
  • Introduce gradually over three to five days and do not exceed the amounts above.
  • At 50g a day the 1.5kg tub is about thirty days for one horse.

Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: monocalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, Yeasacc 1026, blue-green algae.
  • Thunderbrook's published analytical constituents: calcium 10%, phosphorus 3.3%, sodium 0.3%.
  • Added biotin, lysine and methionine; naturally sourced vitamins A, D3 and E; chelated zinc, copper, selenium, magnesium and calcium; Yeasacc 1026 as the nutritional additive.
  • No added iron and no added manganese.
  • Thunderbrook print the full additive declaration on the tub rather than publishing the per-kilo figures on their website, so they are not reproduced here.
  • 1.5kg tub, the smallest of three sizes — 1.5kg, 3kg and 15kg.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Do not feed to sheep. Thunderbrook state it is for equine use only.
  • Do not exceed the scoop rates — this is a concentrated balancer, not a bulk feed.
  • Introduce it over three to five days rather than all at once.
