TopSpec 10:10 Joint Support – 1.5kg

The name is the dose. TopSpec 10:10 Joint Support delivers 10 grams of glucosamine and 10 grams of MSM a day to a 500kg horse, and the declared inclusion rates behind that are glucosamine HCl at 240g/kg and MSM at 200g/kg. Between them the two active ingredients make up nearly half the tub by weight, with cooked maize, dextrose and salt carrying them.

It also brings antioxidants that most joint supplements leave out — vitamin C at 20,000mg/kg and vitamin E at 5,000mg/kg. TopSpec state that it conforms to the BETA UFAS NOPS code for HRA and competition use, so it can be fed to a horse competing under naturally occurring prohibited substance rules.

Performance & Benefits
  • Glucosamine HCl declared at 240g/kg and MSM at 200g/kg — 10g of each per day for a 500kg horse.
  • Vitamin C at 20,000mg/kg and vitamin E at 5,000mg/kg as antioxidant support.
  • Beta carotene at 100mg/kg and natural tocopherols at 300mg/kg.
  • Conforms to the BETA UFAS NOPS code for HRA and competition use.
  • Concentrated enough that a 1.5kg tub covers a 500kg horse for a month at the full rate.
  • Designed to sit on top of an already balanced diet rather than replace part of it.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses in hard or repetitive work, where joints take concussion.
  • Older horses showing stiffness that are already well fed otherwise.
  • Horses in rehabilitation after a joint problem, alongside veterinary care.
  • Competition horses, given the BETA UFAS NOPS conformity.
  • Not the right choice if you already feed TopSpec Senior Feed Balancer, which supplies 10g of glucosamine a day in its own right — that balancer covers both jobs.
<>
Feeding
  • A 1.5kg tub lasts a 500kg horse one month at the full recommended rate, or two months at the maintenance rate.
  • Feed daily, mixed into a damp feed so the powder does not sift to the bottom.
  • Feed consistently. Joint support is judged over weeks, not days.
  • Ensure clean, fresh water is always available.
<>
Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: cooked maize, glucosamine HCl 240g/kg, methyl sulphonyl methane (MSM) 200g/kg, dextrose, sodium chloride.
  • Additives per kg: vitamin E (3a700) 5,000mg, vitamin C (3a312) 20,000mg, beta carotene (3a160a) 100mg, natural tocopherols (1b306(i)) 300mg.
  • Analytical constituents: calcium 0.4%, phosphorus 0.7%, sodium 0.9%, crude protein 12%, crude fat 3.2%, crude fibre 1%, crude ash 6%.
  • TopSpec note that the protein, fat and fibre figures are nutritionally insignificant because the feeding rate is so low.
  • 1.5kg tub. Also sold by TopSpec in 3kg, 9kg and 20kg.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Do not feed alongside another glucosamine product without checking the combined daily total. TopSpec Senior Feed Balancer already supplies 10g a day.
  • Persistent lameness or stiffness needs veterinary investigation. A supplement supports joint health; it does not diagnose or treat a problem.
