TopSpec Comprehensive Feed Balancer – 15kg

This is the all-rounder in the TopSpec balancer range and the one most yards start with. It is a 25% protein pellet built on soya bean meal and full fat soya, declared at 12.5 MJ/kg with 7.5% starch, and fed at 500g a day to a 500kg horse rather than by the scoopful.

The micronutrient side is published in full, which is unusual and worth using: biotin at 30mg/kg, vitamin E at 2,500iu/kg, calcium 2.4% and magnesium 0.6%. At the recommended rate that is 15mg of biotin a day for a 500kg horse. Mannan oligosaccharides are included for the hindgut, and the protein level is high enough to make a real difference to topline on a forage diet.

Performance & Benefits
  • 25% protein from soya bean meal, full fat soya and linseed expeller — enough to build topline on a forage-based diet.
  • Biotin declared at 30mg/kg, giving 15mg a day to a 500kg horse at the recommended rate.
  • Vitamin E at 2,500iu/kg, calcium at 2.4%, magnesium at 0.6%.
  • Mannan oligosaccharides included as a prebiotic for hindgut function.
  • Starch declared at 7.5% and digestible energy 12.5 MJ/kg, in a 500g daily portion.
  • Balances a forage or straights diet without the bulk of a conventional mix or cube.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies of any age, from resting to hard work.
  • Horses on a forage-based or straights-based diet that need the vitamins and minerals forage does not supply.
  • Building and holding topline, and supporting hoof horn quality.
  • Horses fed a TopSpec blend such as FibrePlus Cubes or UlsaKind Cubes, which carry no added micronutrients of their own.
  • Not the balancer for a laminitic or an insulin-dysregulated horse — TopSpec AntiLam Forage Balancer is formulated for those, and TopSpec Lite Feed Balancer is the low-calorie option for a good doer.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed 100g per 100kg bodyweight daily — 500g for a 500kg horse, 250g for a 250kg pony.
  • A half-pint mug holds roughly 200g. A 15kg sack lasts a 500kg horse 30 days.
  • Mix into a damp chop or a small bucket feed rather than feeding it dry on its own.
  • Introduce over seven to ten days, and provide access to a salt lick at all times.
  • Ensure clean, fresh water is always available.
