The Slim Grip is the narrow-handled bat in Woof Wear's jumping range: a slim, full-length TPR rubber grip over a compression-tested foam strike area. If the Full Grip feels fat in your hand, or you ride in thick gloves and want to feel the shaft, this is the one.

One caveat on length, stated plainly. Woof Wear's own listing gives two different figures for this bat — the description says 60cm, the feature list says 65cm — and our previous copy carried 60cm. If the exact length matters for a class, ask us to measure the one in stock before you order.

How to Use

• Hold the grip with the padded strike area facing outwards, away from the rein, so the pad and not the shaft makes contact.
• Use it on the approach or after landing, never in the air. Ask with the leg first and use the bat once to confirm.
• Move it to the other hand across the withers when you change direction, rather than reaching over the neck.
• Woof Wear's care instruction is wipe clean only. Wipe the grip and shaft with a damp cloth and dry it; do not soak the foam pad.
• Store it hanging or lying flat, with nothing resting on the strike pad.

Care & Caution

• The padded strike area is the only part of the bat meant to touch the horse. Never strike with the shaft or the end cap.
• A bat confirms a leg aid; it is not a correction to be repeated. Rules on how often and how hard a whip may be used are enforced in the ring and apply at home too.
• Stop using it if the strike pad splits, softens unevenly or comes loose from the shaft — a damaged pad no longer absorbs anything.
