Woof Wear Contour Lead Rope – Black

Most lead ropes are either soft and weak or strong and hard on the hands. The Contour Lead Rope is built to avoid both: a braided cotton outer that gives a warm, grippy surface to hold, over a core of recycled polypropylene fibre that carries the actual load. The result is a rope you can hold a fresh horse on without it burning through your fingers.

Black is the one that goes with everything and hides the yard on it, which makes it the sensible choice for a spare rope on the hook by the door. The clip is a heavy-duty swivel bolt snap — the swivel is what stops a rope kinking up over a few weeks of being clipped, turned and unclipped.

How to Use

• Clip the bolt snap to the ring under the jaw, with the opening of the snap facing away from the horse's cheek.
• Hold the rope folded in the palm. Never loop it round a hand or a wrist.
• When tying up, pass the rope through a loop of breakable string rather than clipping to a fixed ring.
• Check the bolt snap's spring and gate each time you clip up; a snap that no longer springs shut is the part of a lead rope that fails.
• Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent. Do not tumble dry.
