The Pro Close Contact pad is cut to follow a forward-cut saddle flap, which is what the close contact shape means in practice: a shorter, more curved panel that sits under a jumping or general purpose saddle without a corner of pad hanging out beyond the flap. The high wither cut lifts the pad clear of the spine so it does not pull down onto the withers once the girth is done up.

The fabric is polycotton — breathable, washable and far less prone to going hard after repeated washes than a synthetic. How to Use

• Set the pad well forward, then slide it back into place so the hair lies flat under it.
• Pull the pad up into the saddle gullet before tightening the girth, so it clears the withers.
• Thread the girth straps through the separation loops on each side.
• Brush off hair and dried mud, then machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
• Do not tumble dry and do not dry it in strong sunlight, which yellows white polycotton.
