Woof Wear Reflective Club Boot – Hi Vis Lime, Small

Hi vis lime is the colour that reads best against a dull winter hedge, and on this boot the whole strap face is fluorescent with reflective banding worked into it. A car's headlights pick up movement low down on a horse's legs before they pick out a rider's back, which is the argument for reflective boots rather than just a tabard.

Protection is the same as the standard Club Boot: a 7mm neoprene base with a padded PU strike pad over the inside of the leg, taking the blow when the opposite hoof brushes past. In Small, Woof Wear's chart puts the boot on the front legs of ponies from 12.2hh to 14.1hh, and on the hind legs of smaller ponies from 10.0hh to 13.1hh. Supplied as a pair.

Suitable For

• Front legs on ponies of 12.2–14.1hh.
• Hind legs on smaller ponies of 10.0–13.1hh.
• Hacking on roads, riding at dawn or dusk, and winter schooling in poor light.
• Ponies that brush and need everyday protection as well as visibility.
• Not a tendon boot and not a support boot — for jumping protection over a fence, an open-fronted tendon boot is the right tool.
• Too small in front for anything over about 14.1hh; the Medium is the next size up, and a wide-legged native may need the Medium Extra Wide.

How to Use

• Fit with the strike pad against the inside of the leg, straps fastening front to back and outwards.
• Set the pad over the fetlock and lower cannon, top edge clear of the knee or hock.
• Fasten so the boot cannot be rotated by hand, but so a finger still slides under the top edge.
• Close all straps before washing. Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
• Do not tumble dry and do not leave in strong sunlight — fluorescent dyes fade fastest of all.

Care & Caution

• Grit and sand caught between the neoprene and the skin is the usual cause of rubs. Empty the boots and check the legs each time they come off.
• Neoprene traps heat, so these are for working and turnout, not for leaving on continuously.
• Reflective performance depends on a clean surface. A boot caked in mud reflects nothing, so wash them and do not rely on hi vis alone in poor visibility.
