Woof Wear UV Nose Protector – Black, Small

Native ponies are the animals this accessory was made for. A broad blaze or a bald face on a pony often means bare pink skin right down the muzzle, and that skin burns in a single bright week of turnout. A fly mask shades the eyes but ends above the nose; this clip-on mesh panel takes the cover down over the muzzle itself.

The panel is soft, contoured mesh that blocks nearly 60% of UV rays and has been independently tested to BS EN 13758-1: 2002. Small matches a Woof Wear UV Fly Mask in Small, and because Woof Wear allow it to attach one size up or down, it will also fit an XS or a Medium mask — which is helpful if a pony is between mask sizes.

Performance & Benefits
  • Blocks nearly 60% of UV rays, independently tested to BS EN 13758-1: 2002.
  • Soft, contoured mesh that follows the line of a short pony muzzle.
  • Clips onto a Woof Wear UV Fly Mask in XS, Small or Medium.
  • Light enough that it does not unbalance a small mask on a pony's face.
  • Suitable for turnout and for riding.
  • Machine washable at 30°C.
<>
Suitable For
  • Ponies using a Woof Wear UV Fly Mask in Small — also fits XS and Medium masks.
  • Natives and part-breds with blazes, snips or bald faces on pink skin.
  • Ponies that burn their noses every summer and go sore in the head collar.
  • Turnout through the brightest weeks, and hacking in strong sun.
  • An add-on only — there is nothing for it to attach to without a Woof Wear UV Fly Mask.
  • If the pony wears an XXS mask, the XS nose protector is the better match.
<>
How to Use
  • Clip the protector to the fixing points beneath the nose section of the mask.
  • Check the mesh lies against the muzzle without pressing on the nostrils.
  • Make sure the mask has not been pulled up towards the eye by the additional weight.
  • Check the clips before and after every use — ponies rub, and a half-attached panel flaps.
  • Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent. Do not tumble dry or leave in strong sunlight.

Care & Caution
  • Nearly 60% of UV blocked is useful but partial. A muzzle already burnt, or a pony with suspected photosensitivity, needs shade and veterinary advice as well.
  • Check the nose and nostrils daily. Ponies rub their faces on fences, and a shifted protector rubs the same spot the sun was hurting.
  • Do not fit it tightly against the nostrils. A pony must be able to breathe freely through the nose.
  • Take the mask and protector off at least once a day and look at the skin underneath.
