Agrifence Duo 6 Energiser – 6V/12V, 0.42J

The Duo 6 is a dual-power battery energiser: run it on four D-cell batteries for a portable set-up, or on a 12V rechargeable leisure battery where it is staying put. It stores 0.42 joules and delivers 0.35 to the line, which Agrifence rate at 4,000 metres of fence in low vegetation — around twelve acres — 1,500 metres in medium and 400 metres in high vegetation.

That last figure is the useful one. Most battery energisers are quoted on their best-case number; the Duo 6 will still hold 400 metres of overgrown line, which is what makes it a practical unit for strip grazing and outlying fields. A variable pulse rate lets you trade frequency for battery life, and on a 12V battery it can be run with a solar panel.

Performance & Benefits
  • 0.42 joules stored, 0.35 joules delivered to the fence.
  • Runs on 4 x D-cell batteries or a 12V rechargeable leisure battery.
  • Fence length: 4,000m in low vegetation, around 12 acres.
  • 1,500m in medium vegetation and 400m in high vegetation.
  • Variable pulse rate to extend battery life between changes.
  • Built-in battery charge indicator, so a flat cell is spotted before the fence fails.
  • Solar compatible when run on a 12V battery. Three-year Agrifence warranty.
<>
Suitable For
  • Paddocks and fields with no mains supply.
  • Strip grazing and temporary fencing that moves through the season.
  • Horses, ponies, cattle and sheep on tape, rope or polywire.
  • Boundaries with vegetation under the line, where a small solar unit would be swamped.
  • Not the unit for a long, permanently overgrown boundary — a mains energiser with a higher joule rating carries more line through growth.
<>
How to Use
  • Drive the supplied earth rod into moist ground, at least 15m from any domestic or building earth.
  • Mount the unit on the rod, out of reach of stock and children.
  • Fit four D cells or connect a 12V leisure battery, observing the correct polarity.
  • Connect the earth lead to the rod and the live lead to the fence line.
  • Set the pulse rate — a slower rate stretches battery life where the fence is clean.
  • Check the charge indicator and the fence voltage weekly.

Care & Caution
  • Site the energiser out of reach of children and stock, and never inside a shelter animals can enter.
  • Never connect an energiser to barbed wire — it is dangerous to animals and is not a lawful electric fence in the UK.
  • Observe polarity when connecting a 12V leisure battery, and charge it in a ventilated space away from the yard. Lead-acid batteries give off flammable gas on charge.
  • Do not mix old and new D cells, or different battery chemistries, in the same set.
  • Where the fence borders a public footpath, bridleway or road, electric fence warning signs are a legal requirement in the UK.
