Agrifence Easy Leadout Cable – 1.6mm Core x 25m

Leadout cable is the wire that does the unglamorous work in an electric fence: it takes the pulse from the energiser out to the live line, runs the return down to the earth stake, and crosses gateways underground where tape or polywire cannot go. Agrifence's Easy Leadout is a 1.6mm galvanised steel core in an insulating sheath, supplied in a 25m length.

Agrifence list three jobs for it by name — mains energiser to fence, energiser to earth stake, and underground connections such as between gateways. Twenty-five metres is the short coil, which suits a single yard installation where the energiser sits close to the fence; longer runs are better served by their 50m and 100m lengths.

How to Use

• Switch off and unplug the energiser before making any connection.
• Run the cable from the energiser terminal to the fence line, keeping it clear of earthed metalwork.
• Bury or duct the cable where it crosses a gateway or a track.
• Make the fence-end connection with a proper connector rather than a twist of bare wire.
• Re-check the connections after the first week and at the start of each season.

Care & Caution

• This cable carries the full output pulse of the energiser. Isolate the energiser before handling either end.
• Do not run it in contact with earthed metalwork, wet masonry or a metal gatepost; the pulse will leak away and the fence will go flat.
• Protect any buried section from spade and hoof damage, and mark where it crosses a gateway.
• Replace the cable rather than taping over it if the sheath is cut or chafed.
