Agrifence Remote Fence Tester
A pocket-sized tester that tells you whether a fence is live without a ground spike. Hold it near the line and it beeps when it detects a pulse. Agrifence code H4852, battery included, and small enough to live in a coat pocket rather than a toolbox.
The point of the no-spike design is speed. A conventional voltmeter needs an earth probe pushed into the ground for every reading, which is fine at one point on the fence and tedious along a mile of it. This one gives you a yes or no as you walk, which is what most fence checks actually need.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Detects a fence pulse and sounds an audible beep, so there is nothing to read in poor light.
- Works without a ground spike, so a check takes seconds.
- Pocket sized — Agrifence suggest it for walkers and cyclists as much as for stockmen.
- Battery supplied with the unit.
- Replaces the old habit of testing a fence with a stem of grass.
Suitable For
- Daily and weekly fence walks on any electric fence.
- Checking a long run quickly to find roughly where the power stops.
- Riders, walkers and cyclists who want to know whether a line is live before touching it.
- Keeping in a jacket pocket or a tack room drawer.
- Not a diagnostic instrument — it tells you a fence is pulsing, not at what voltage. For a numeric reading use a voltmeter, and for finding where the fault is use a directional fault finder.
How to Use
- Switch the tester on and hold it close to the fence line, following the instructions supplied.
- Listen for the beep. No beep means no detectable pulse at that point.
- Work along the fence from the energiser outwards to narrow down where the power is lost.
- Test at the far end of the fence, not just at the energiser — that is where a problem shows first.
- Replace the battery when the beep becomes faint or intermittent.
Specification
- Agrifence product code H4852. Barcode 5052150002965.
- Operates without a ground spike.
- Audible beep indication.
- Battery included.
- Agrifence publish no voltage range, number of indication levels, battery type or dimensions for this tester, so none of those are stated here.
Care & Caution
- A tester that does not beep is not proof that a fence is dead. Always switch the energiser off at the source and disconnect it before handling the fence line.
- Anyone with a pacemaker or other implanted medical device should keep clear of a live electric fence and take advice before working on one.
