Agrifence's best-selling fence tester, and the simplest useful one: a row of six lamps that light in sequence to show what the fence is carrying, from 1,000 volts up to 10,000. No screen to read in bright sun, no batteries in the tester itself, and a result you can take in at a glance while holding a gate open with the other hand.

A tester is not an optional extra on an electric fence. A line can look perfect and be carrying nothing, and stock learn that faster than owners do. Working along the fence taking readings is how you find the shorted insulator or the vegetation contact that is bleeding the voltage away.

How to Use

• Push the earth spike or lead firmly into moist soil beside the fence.
• Touch the probe onto the live conductor and read the highest lamp lit.
• Take a reading at the energiser first, then at intervals along the line.
• A reading that falls sharply between two points puts the fault in that section.
• To check the earth, short the fence out and read the earth system — above 300V means more or longer earth rods are needed.
