Ordinary cow ears are shaved; these are not. Leaving the hair on changes the chew in two ways — it gives the dog something to work at before it reaches the ear itself, and the hair passes through the gut undigested. Anco's own claim for the range is that the hair may help carry intestinal parasites out with it, which is the traditional reason hairy chews are fed at all.

Underneath the hair it is a flat, lean chew: 100% beef at 78.4% protein and only 5.7% fat, which is one of the highest protein figures and lowest fat figures in the whole Anco chew list. Three ears come in the pack, air-dried rather than baked.

Care & Caution
