Anco Oceans Cod Braids – 100g
Cod Braids are strips of cod skin plaited and air-dried, sold in a 100g bag. The plait does two things: it stiffens the skin so it crunches rather than folds, and it gives a dog something to unpick, which stretches a small treat into a proper chewing job.
Anco declare the composition as 100% cod, and their analysis puts protein at 75% with fat at just 1.5%. Very few chews combine that much protein with that little fat, which is why fish skin is the usual answer for a dog that has to lose weight but still needs occupying.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 100% cod skin, plaited and air-dried, with nothing else in the bag.
- Anco's analysis: protein 75%, fat 1.5%, ash 11%, fibre 1.2%.
- Among the leanest chews on the shelf at 1.5% fat.
- The braided crunch works against plaque as the dog chews.
- Sustainably fished, and made in the UK and EU.
- Grain and gluten free, hypoallergenic, with no added colourings, salt or sugar.
Suitable For
- Dogs on a weight-reduction plan that still need something to chew.
- Dogs with a beef, chicken or lamb sensitivity.
- Small and medium breeds, which get a full session out of a single braid.
- Puppies from twelve weeks of age.
- Not a long-lasting chew for a large power chewer — Anco Red Deer Leg holds up far longer.
Feeding
- Feed as a treat or reward only, as part of a nutritionally balanced diet.
- Anco state they are suitable for puppies from twelve weeks of age.
- One braid at a time; the 100g bag holds several.
- Keep fresh drinking water available while your dog is chewing.
- Reduce the day's main ration to allow for what the braid contributes.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% cod. 100g bag.
- Analytical constituents: protein 75%, fat 1.5%, ash 11%, fibre 1.2%.
- Anco publish no moisture figure, braid length or piece count for the bag, so none is stated here.
- The same cod skin is sold flat as Anco Oceans Cod Strips and in coin form as Cod Coins.
Care & Caution
- Stay with your dog while the braid is being chewed.
- Take the last short section away rather than letting a dog swallow it whole.
- Fish skin is rich; several braids in one session can loosen a sensitive dog's stools.
