Anco Oceans Dried Sprats – 150g
Sprats are whole small fish, air-dried head, bones, skin and all, in a 150g bag. Nothing is stripped out, so a dog gets the oil from the flesh and the minerals from the skeleton in the same mouthful — which is why the ash figure sits as high as 9.6%.
They are the richest thing in the Oceans range: Anco's analysis gives fat at 33.1% against protein at 44.4%. A handful is a genuine part of the day's food rather than a casual treat, and a dog on a weight plan should have one or two rather than a scoop.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Composition declared as 100% sprats — whole fish, with nothing added.
- Anco's analysis: protein 44.4%, fat 33.1%, ash 9.6%, fibre 7.9%.
- A natural source of omega-3 and omega-6 from the oil in the fish itself.
- Dry and crisp, so the dog crunches through bone as well as flesh.
- Sustainably fished, and hypoallergenic as a single fish protein.
- 150g bag, holding a large number of individual fish.
Suitable For
- Dogs whose coats have gone dull and would benefit from oil in the diet.
- Scatter feeding and snuffle mats, where the shape and scent make searching easy.
- Dogs avoiding poultry and red meat.
- Puppies from twelve weeks of age.
- Too rich to feed freely to an overweight or pancreatitis-prone dog at 33.1% fat — Anco Oceans Cod Strips 85g, at 1.5% fat, are the lean alternative.
Feeding
- Feed as a complementary treat, alongside a complete and balanced diet.
- Anco state these are suitable for puppies from twelve weeks of age. Some retail listings say four months; the twelve-week figure is Anco's own.
- Offer a small number at a time, and take the main meal down to match.
- Keep fresh drinking water available.
- Supervise your dog while the sprats are being eaten.
