Ancol Viva Adjustable Dog Collar – Black, 20–30cm (Size 1–2)
This is the smallest of the three Viva adjustable collars, and it moves through a full 10cm — anywhere from 20cm to 30cm at the neck. On a small dog that is a large proportion of its own size, which is why it is the one to buy for a puppy: the collar that fits a twelve-week-old terrier is usually still adjusting to fit it several months later.
The webbing is Ancol's poly-weave, which they describe as lightweight and weatherproof, and it closes with a quick-fit and release buckle rather than a pin buckle and punched holes. Length is set by a sliding adjuster, so it will sit at 24cm just as happily as at 25 or 26.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Adjusts anywhere between 20cm and 30cm at the neck — Ancol size 1–2 on their own collar scale.
- Poly-weave webbing, which Ancol describe as lightweight and weatherproof.
- Quick-fit and release buckle: on and off with one squeeze, no threading through a pin buckle.
- Sliding adjuster holds the length you set, rather than jumping between fixed holes.
- Ancol rate the webbing for swimming as well as for walks, so it can stay on in water.
- Machine washable at 30°C.
- Supplied in widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
Suitable For
- Small and toy breeds measuring 20–30cm at the base of the neck.
- Puppies of medium breeds, which will outgrow it eventually but not for months.
- Dogs that swim or go through mud, since the webbing washes and dries.
- Everyday tag wearing as well as walking.
- Necks over 30cm are outside this collar's range — the 30–50cm size 2–5 Viva adjustable collar is the next one up, and we stock it in black, blue, pink and red.
How to Use
- Measure round the base of the neck, where the collar will actually sit, using a soft tape or a length of string laid against a ruler.
- Ancol's size numbers are their own collar scale, not a breed size. Size 1 is 20–26cm, 2 is 26–31cm, 3 is 28–36cm, 4 is 35–43cm, 5 is 39–48cm, 6 is 45–54cm, 7 is 50–59cm, 8 is 55–63cm and 9 is 59–68cm.
- "Size 1–2" therefore means this single collar adjusts across the span those two sizes cover, which Ancol quote as 20–30cm. Where a size number and a cm figure seem to disagree, buy on the cm figure.
- Buckle it on, then pull the free end through the slider until two fingers fit flat between webbing and neck — Ancol's own fitting check.
- Thread the spare tail back through the keeper rather than cutting it off; you will want it as the dog grows.
- Machine wash at 30°C. Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry it against a radiator, and let it dry fully before it goes back on.

Care & Caution
- A puppy's neck changes faster than most owners expect. Check the two-finger gap weekly, not monthly.
- A collar is not a tethering point. Do not tie a dog up by it or leave it attached to anything unattended.
- Check the buckle for cracks and the webbing for fraying where it passes through the slider, and replace the collar if either has started.
- Take it off for crate time and for rough play with another collared dog, where a jaw or a foot can catch in it.
