How to Use

• Measure the base of the neck with a soft tape. If you have no tape, run a bootlace round, mark it, and lay it against a ruler.
• Ancol's numbers 1 to 9 are their own collar scale: 1 is 20–26cm, 2 is 26–31cm, 3 is 28–36cm, 4 is 35–43cm, 5 is 39–48cm, 6 is 45–54cm, 7 is 50–59cm, 8 is 55–63cm, 9 is 59–68cm. They overlap, which is why a dog can look like two sizes at once.
• An adjustable collar sidesteps that. "Size 2–5" means it covers all of them, and Ancol's published range for it is 30–50cm.
• Fit so two fingers slide flat between the webbing and the neck — Ancol's own rule.
• Mark or note the slider position once you have it right, so it can be reset after a wash.

Care & Caution

• On a dog you are still getting to know, check the fit daily for the first week. A frightened rescue dog will back out of a collar that is one notch loose.

• Inspect the buckle for cracks and the webbing for fraying at the slider, and replace the collar if either appears.
• Remove it for crate time and rough play with another collared dog.
