Ancol Viva Padded Collar – Blue, Size 4 (35–43cm)

Size 4 spans necks of 35–43cm, which is 8cm of usable adjustment on one strap. That span is the reason to buy a buckle collar rather than a fixed one: the same collar can be let out as a puppy fills into its adult frame, and taken back in when the coat comes off in spring. It is also why the fit is worth rechecking rather than setting once and forgetting.

A collar sits at the same tension all week, so a small change in the dog shows up as a real difference. A groomed double coat can drop a neck by two centimetres overnight; a dog carrying winter condition puts it back. Two fingers sliding flat under the webbing is the check, and this collar has enough holes either side of a mid-range setting to keep meeting it. Poly-weave webbing with soft padding, satin buckle, ID loop, washable at 30°C.

Performance & Benefits
  • Fits necks 35–43cm — 8cm of adjustment, enough to follow a coat change or a growing dog.
  • Soft padding behind poly-weave webbing for comfort under sustained wear.
  • Satin buckle and ID loop.
  • Lightweight and weatherproof; Ancol rate the range for swimming.
  • Machine washable at 30°C.
  • Blue is the easiest of the colourways to spot in long grass at a distance.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs measuring 35–43cm at the base of the neck.
  • Growing dogs expected to settle inside that range.
  • Double-coated and clipped breeds whose neck measurement moves through the year.
  • Dogs wearing an ID tag full time.
  • A dog likely to grow past 43cm should start on the Ancol Viva Padded Dog Collar Blue 39-48cm Size 5 instead of being outgrown mid-season.
<>
How to Use
  • Measure the base of the neck over the coat with a soft tape.
  • Set the buckle so two fingers pass flat underneath, and aim for a mid-range hole rather than an end one.
  • Recheck monthly on a growing dog, and after every groom on a coated one.
  • Hang the ID tag on the loop.
  • Machine wash at 30°C, do not tumble dry, air dry naturally before refitting.

Care & Caution
  • Check the buckle, the ID loop and their stitching regularly and replace the collar once any of it looks tired.
  • Never leave a growing dog on a collar you have not checked recently — a collar that fitted in April can be tight by July.
  • Take it off for unsupervised crate time; buckles and tags snag on bars.
  • No bleach, no tumble drying, no radiator drying.
