This is a soothing wash for a dog that has been bitten, not a parasite treatment. Animology are careful about the claim and so are we: they describe it as a soothing dog shampoo which helps to wash fleas and ticks out of the coat, and helps to soothe irritated bitten skin. They do not say it kills fleas or ticks, and they do not say it prevents them.

It is enriched with neem seed oil and tea tree leaf oil and carries a Medicated tea tree scent, over the same mild deep-cleaning base and built-in conditioner as the rest of the range. Animology state the formulation is 100% vegan. Used alongside a proper veterinary flea and tick product it is a sensible bath; used instead of one it will not clear an infestation.

Suitable For

How to Use

• Wet the coat thoroughly with warm water.
• Apply and work into a lather from the neck down, avoiding the eyes and ears.
• Animology recommend leaving the lather on for five minutes before rinsing completely.
• Repeat if needed and towel dry.
• Comb through with a flea comb while the coat is still damp to lift out what the wash has loosened.

• Earlier copy on this page said the shampoo prevents and treats flea and tick infestations. That overstates what Animology claim — their wording is that it helps wash fleas and ticks out and soothes bitten skin — so the claim has been corrected.
• The same copy stated it is suitable from six weeks old and made in the United Kingdom. Animology publish neither a minimum age nor a country of manufacture for this product, so neither is stated here.

Care & Caution

• Contains tea tree oil, which is toxic to cats. Do not use it on cats, and keep a treated dog away from the cat until it is fully dry.
• Do not use it on rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets or other small pets.
• Keep it out of the eyes and ears. Tea tree and neem sting far more than a plain shampoo.
• It kills nothing. Do not rely on it as the flea or tick control for a household — get a licensed veterinary product and treat the house as well as the dog.
• Remove attached ticks with a proper tick hook rather than trying to wash them off, and rinse the coat until the water runs clear.
