Animology White Wash White Dog Shampoo – 250ml

White Wash is the bottle for a white dog that has stopped looking white. Animology build it as a mild, deep cleaning and stain removing formulation with optical enhancers — optical brighteners, in plain terms, which absorb ultraviolet and re-emit it as visible blue light so a yellowed coat reads as white again to the eye.

It is worth knowing that the brightening is an optical trick and not bleaching: the effect is deposited on the coat and washes out again over the following weeks. It carries Animology's Signature scent and is described as suitable for all breeds. Of the shampoos in this range it is the strongest, and the only one whose ingredient list includes sodium lauryl sulfate.

Suitable For

• Occasional use rather than every wash; a general shampoo like Animology Dogs Body is the better weekly bottle.
• Not the right shampoo for a dog with sensitive or reactive skin. It contains sodium lauryl sulfate and optical brighteners, neither of which belongs on sore skin — the fragrance-free Animology Derma Dog is the one for that dog.

How to Use

• Wet the coat thoroughly with warm water.
• Apply and work into a lather from the neck down, avoiding the eyes and ears.
• Animology recommend leaving the lather on for five minutes before rinsing completely — on a stained coat this is what makes the difference.
• Rinse completely, repeat on badly stained areas, and towel dry.
• Follow with Animology Top Dog conditioner if the coat feels stripped afterwards.

• Earlier copy on this page said White Wash is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin, and safe for puppies over six weeks. Animology claim neither. They publish no minimum age for this product, and it is the one shampoo in the range containing sodium lauryl sulfate, so the sensitive-skin claim has been removed.

Care & Caution

• Contains sodium lauryl sulfate. Keep it well clear of the eyes and ear canals — it stings far more than the rest of the range.
• Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Optical brightener and surfactant left in the coat is a common cause of itching afterwards.
• Not for sensitive, broken or already irritated skin, and not for use on a dog mid-flare.
• Declares the fragrance allergens linalool and hexyl cinnamal.
• Formulated for dogs. Do not use it on cats or on any other small pet.
