Baileys Garlic Supplement – 5kg

The 5kg is the bulk size of Baileys' garlic powder — the same product as the 1kg tub, bought for a yard, for several horses, or for one horse fed garlic every day of the year. Analysis runs at 10% protein, 10% oil and 16% fibre, because the garlic oil sits on a micronised wheat and grass meal base rather than on a bare filler.

Baileys make it with natural garlic oil instead of dried garlic residue, which raises the allicin content and explains the smell. Buying the larger tub only makes sense once you know your horse eats it, so most people work up to this size from the 1kg.

Performance & Benefits
  • Five kilos in one tub, the economical size for a yard or a horse fed garlic year round.
  • Made with natural garlic oil, giving higher allicin content than dried garlic residue.
  • Very strong smell, which is exactly what gets a stubborn feeder eating up.
  • Micronised wheat and grass meal base blends through a feed rather than sitting on top of it.
  • Garlic supplies organic sulphur along with antioxidant vitamins and minerals.
  • Baileys list respiratory and digestive support and natural insect-repellent properties among its effects.
<>
Suitable For
  • Yards feeding garlic to several horses.
  • One horse fed garlic all year, where the 1kg tub runs out too quickly.
  • Persistent fussy feeders, and disguising bitter supplements or medication.
  • Horses that have already taken to the 1kg tub.
  • Not the right carrier for a laminitic or insulin-resistant horse, since the base is micronised wheat and molasses — Baileys Light Chaff or No.26 Senior Soft & Lite are the low-starch options we stock.
<>
Feeding
  • Mix into a normal feed, damp or dry.
  • Baileys publish no daily feeding rate for this supplement, so none is stated here — their nutrition team will set one for your horse.
  • Introduce it gradually rather than at full rate on day one.
  • Feed alongside forage and a balanced ration; garlic is a supplement, not a feed.
  • Keep the tub closed between feeds. The smell travels through a feed room.
