Baileys No.24 Ease & Excel Cubes – 20kg

The No.24 cubes carry no whole cereal grain at all. The calories come from superfibres — soya bean hulls, unmolassed beet pulp, alfalfa — and from oil at 8.5%, which is how Baileys get 12 MJ/kg out of a feed with starch at only 8%. That is roughly a third of the starch of a conditioning mix at similar energy.

It carries Digest Plus scFOS prebiotic at 2g/kg and grape pip solubles at 6mg/kg, and Baileys aim it at horses whose stomachs react badly to cereal. This is the cube form of the Ease & Excel range; No.21 is the mix. Supplied in 20kg.

Feeding

• Feed by weight alongside forage. One level Stubbs round bowl scoop holds about 1.8kg of cubes.
• Baileys cap a meal at 0.5kg of cubes per 100kg bodyweight — 2.5kg for a 500kg horse.
• Keep the whole feed within 1.5–2kg for a horse or 1.25–1.5kg for a pony, chaff and beet pulp included.
• Change over from a cereal feed across ten days to a fortnight; a gut used to starch takes time to adjust to fibre and oil.
• Baileys publish their per-workload rates on the bag rather than online; their nutrition team will set a rate.
