Baileys No.6 All-Round Endurance Mix – 20kg

No.6 is built for distance rather than speed: oil at 10% and superfibres carrying most of the calorie load, with micronised barley and wheat taking starch only to 22% at 13 MJ/kg. Oil is the fuel a horse burns over hours of steady work, which is why Baileys weight this mix towards it.

Soya hulls, ground beet pulp, alfalfa and oat straw chaff supply the fibre, and cooked linseed adds omega fatty acids on top of the soya oil. Digest Plus scFOS prebiotic goes in to support a hindgut that is being asked to ferment a good deal of fibre. Supplied in 20kg.

Feeding

• Feed by weight alongside forage. One level Stubbs round bowl holds about 1.3kg of this mix.
• Baileys cap a meal at 0.5kg of mix per 100kg bodyweight — 2.5kg for a 500kg horse.
• Keep total meal size within 1.5–2kg for a horse or 1.25–1.5kg for a pony, chaff and beet pulp included.
• Introduce over ten days to a fortnight so the gut adapts to 10% oil.
