Baileys Outshine – 20kg

The 20kg sack is the size for a horse that is staying on Outshine — a poor doer being brought back into condition, or a competition horse whose coat is part of the job. At the maintenance quantities Outshine is fed in, a sack lasts a long time, which is the whole argument for buying this size over the taster bag.

Same extruded nugget throughout: 26% oil, 24 MJ/kg of digestible energy, soya oil and heat-processed linseed for omega 6 and omega 3 together, and Digest Plus prebiotic at 10g/kg. Vitamins E and C with selenium and zinc are added because feeding oil raises the antioxidant demand the body has to meet.

Performance & Benefits
  • Concentrated slow-release calories — 24 MJ/kg, roughly double a conditioning mix.
  • 26% oil from soya and heat-processed linseed, balancing omega 6 against omega 3.
  • Antioxidant package of vitamins E and C, selenium and zinc.
  • ScFOS Digest Plus prebiotic at 10g/kg for hindgut support.
  • Extruded nuggets mix easily into compound feeds, chaffs and straights.
  • 20kg sack, the economical size once a horse is established on it.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses needing outstanding coat shine year round.
  • Poor doers needing weight gain without a large bucket.
  • Performance horses needing stamina from oil rather than cereal.
  • Equines on a low-starch diet needing non-cereal calories.
  • Not a balanced feed in its own right — feed it alongside a fortified feed or a balancer such as Baileys No.19 Performance Balancer.
<>
Feeding
  • Mix a small quantity into the existing feed rather than feeding it alone.
  • A half-pint mug holds approximately 200g of Outshine.
  • Baileys publish no grams-per-day rate in readable text on the product page, so none is stated here.
  • Build up over ten to fourteen days; dietary oil raised too quickly loosens droppings.
  • Ad-lib forage and clean, fresh water alongside.

Composition & Analysis
  • Composition: heat processed wheat, soya oil, heat processed linseed, soya hulls, soya bean meal, vitamins and minerals, dicalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, L-lysine, DL methionine, ScFOS (Digest Plus prebiotic) 10g/kg, extracts of flavours of essential oils.
  • Typical analysis: digestible energy 24 MJ/kg, protein 12.5%, oil 26%, fibre 8%, ash 7%, starch 19%, sugar 3%.
  • 20kg sack. Baileys' own product page names a 6.5kg taster bag and a 5kg tub with spearmint; it does not list bag sizes beyond those.
  • Descriptions calling Outshine a low-starch feed are misleading — it analyses at 19% starch. The low-starch benefit comes from the small quantity fed, not the product itself.
