Buddycare Vanilla & Shea Butter Waterless Dry Dog Shampoo – 200ml

The warm vanilla scent is what sells this one, and on a rinse-free product it lingers because nothing washes it away. It works like the rest of the waterless range: on to a dry coat, massaged in, brushed through, and that is the wash finished without a drop of water.

Be clear about the name, though. Buddycare's declared ingredient list for this bottle contains no Butyrospermum parkii — no shea butter. What it does contain is aloe barbadensis leaf juice and panthenol on a cocamidopropyl betaine and lauryl glucoside base, the same formulation as the other three scents. It is a good mild cleaner; it is not a shea butter conditioner.

Performance & Benefits
  • Warm vanilla scent that holds on the coat because there is no rinse to remove it.
  • Rinse free — no bath, no hose, no wet dog.
  • Mild cocamidopropyl betaine and lauryl glucoside base, free of SLS, sulphates and parabens.
  • Aloe barbadensis leaf juice and panthenol for coat condition.
  • pH balanced for canine skin and cleared from eight weeks.
  • 200ml, which is the whole range's single size.
<>
Suitable For
  • Dogs bathed infrequently that need freshening between washes.
  • Puppies from eight weeks upwards.
  • Owners who want a warmer, sweeter scent than the baby powder or oatmeal versions.
  • Travel, shows and anywhere with no warm water.
  • Not the product for a dog that genuinely needs shea butter on a dry coat, since none is declared here, and never for a cat.
<>
How to Use
  • Apply to the coat and gently massage it in.
  • Target the dirty and greasy areas rather than the whole dog.
  • Brush the coat through if necessary.
  • Do not rinse — the formula is rinse free.
  • Let the coat dry on its own.
<>
Specification
  • 200ml bottle of rinse-free waterless dog shampoo.
  • Ingredients: aqua (water), cocamidopropyl betaine, glycerin, phenoxyethanol, sodium chloride, polysorbate 20, lauryl glucoside, sodium benzoate, sodium hydroxide, aloe barbadensis (aloe) leaf juice, panthenol (provitamin B5), parfum.
  • Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) does not appear in Buddycare's declared ingredient list for this bottle, despite the product name.
  • Free from SLS, sulphates and parabens.
  • Buddycare publish no pH figure and no opened shelf life, so none is given here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • Buddycare formulate this for dogs only and say plainly not to use it on cats, whose skin pH differs. Use a cat shampoo on a cat.
  • It is rinse free, so it stays on the coat and the dog will lick it. Use only what the coat needs, and keep it off the muzzle and around the mouth.
  • Keep it out of the eyes and ears. Flush with clean water if any gets in.
  • Not for puppies under eight weeks.
  • Stop using it if the skin reddens or the dog scratches more after a wash, and speak to your vet.
