The 10kg sack of Burgess’s standard adult rabbit nugget, and the size that makes sense for several rabbits or a rescue. Beneficial fibre is 40.5% — the highest figure in the Excel rabbit range — with crude protein held down to 12%, so a rabbit eating its measured portion is not quietly gaining weight on it.

Grass meal is the first ingredient and dried mint is declared at 1%. It is a complementary food rather than a complete diet, and Burgess are explicit about that: good quality feeding hay or grass should make up the majority of what a rabbit eats and should be in front of it at all times.

Feeding

• Feed a small measured portion daily; hay or grass makes up the majority of the diet and must be available at all times.
• Add a small handful of leafy greens each day.
• Fresh clean water constantly available.
• Weigh rabbits regularly and adjust the nugget portion rather than the hay.
• Burgess give their guidance as a five-step feeding plan rather than a grams-per-day table, so no fixed daily weight is quoted here.
