Poultry meal makes up 40% of the bag, of which chicken is 36%, with turkey meal behind it. Dried cranberry is declared at 0.5% and extract of yucca schidigera at 0.05%, the latter included for litter tray odour. Predicted energy is 364 kcal per 100g, well below the 390.5 of the standard adult recipes.

Feeding

• Introduce gradually over seven to ten days, mixing with the cat’s current food.
• Measure the portion from the on-pack table by weight and lifestyle rather than filling the bowl.
• Count treats within the daily allowance rather than adding them on top of it.

Care & Caution

• The point of this food is calorie control, and it only works if the portion is measured. Fed to appetite, or topped up with treats on top of the daily allowance, a neutered cat will gain weight on this as readily as on anything else.
• At 38% crude protein and 10% crude ash this is a high-protein, high-mineral diet. A cat with diagnosed kidney or urinary disease should be moved onto it only on veterinary advice.
• Change over across seven to ten days rather than in a single meal. An abrupt switch commonly causes loose droppings, and a cat that stops eating for more than a day or two needs to be seen.
