Butcher's sensitive-digestion recipe, supplied as eighteen 390g tins: six chicken and wholegrain rice, six turkey and wholegrain rice, six salmon and wholegrain rice. Each is 70% British and Irish farmed meat with 4% cooked wholegrain rice, and all three share the same gut-focused blend.

The Simply Gentle blend runs at 5,600 mg/kg and is built round prebiotics rather than fillers: yeast supplying MOS at 500 mg/kg and beta-glucans, chicory root FOS at 600 mg/kg, and ginger and peppermint alongside the vitamins and minerals. Butcher's formulate it without wheat, wheat gluten or dairy, which is what the hypoallergenic claim rests on.

Feeding

• Butcher's guide starts at up to 1 tin a day for a toy dog under 5kg and runs to 6 tins and more for a giant breed over 45kg.
• Butcher's published figures for the sizes in between do not run in order on their own page, so feed to condition and check the on-pack table before settling on a daily amount.
• Introduce it over about a week if you are moving a sensitive dog off another food.
• Serve at room temperature and keep fresh drinking water available.
