These are hard-baked biscuits rather than a soft treat, built on chicken at 40% with chickpea at 25% and sweet potato at 22%. The working ingredient is sodium hexametaphosphate at 5,000 mg/kg, which binds salivary calcium and slows the rate at which plaque hardens into tartar — a real mechanism, not just a crunch claim.

Canagan also put glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM in at 300 mg/kg each, and a 2% herb blend of oregano, basil, marjoram and thyme. Crude protein is 34% and crude fat 14%. Suitable For

Feeding

• A complementary treat for dogs — feed alongside a complete diet, not as a meal.
• Take the biscuits out of the day's food ration so the total does not creep up.
• Feed them whole for a medium or large dog; snap them for a small one.
• Always make sure fresh water is available.
• Store in a cool, dry place with the pack closed.

Care & Caution

• The recipe contains devil's claw, a herbal ingredient normally avoided in pregnant bitches and in dogs with gastric or duodenal ulceration. If your dog is pregnant, has a history of stomach ulcers, or is on anti-inflammatory medication, check with your vet before feeding these.
• These are hard biscuits. Do not feed them to a dog with loose, worn or broken teeth, and supervise a determined chewer that tries to swallow one whole.
• The tartar-control ingredient works on new plaque. It will not shift tartar that has already hardened on the tooth — that needs a veterinary scale and polish.
