Canagan Country Game Dry Cat Food – 1.5kg
Four animal proteins in one kibble: freshly prepared duck at 45%, with dried duck at 8.5%, dried herring at 6%, freshly prepared venison at 4% and dried rabbit at 4%. Duck, venison and rabbit are all game meats a cat is unlikely to have met in a supermarket food, which is most of the reason the recipe exists.
The 1.5kg bag is the middle of Canagan's three sizes and the sensible one for a single cat. At the 45g a day Canagan suggest for a 4kg cat it runs about a month, which is short enough that the bag is finished while the fats in it are still fresh.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 45% freshly prepared duck, plus dried duck, herring, venison and rabbit.
- Crude protein 32% and crude fat 21% — the profile of a food built for an obligate carnivore.
- Metabolisable energy 400 kcal per 100g, so portions stay small.
- Taurine added at 1,300 mg/kg, more than twice the figure in the Canagan cat cans.
- Salmon oil at 1.5%, with omega-6 at 2% and omega-3 at 0.6% declared.
- Fructooligosaccharides, mannanoligosaccharides and psyllium for digestive support.
Suitable For
- Kittens and adult cats; Canagan label the recipe for both.
- Cats that have grown tired of chicken- and salmon-based kibble.
- Single-cat households, where a 1.5kg bag is used up in about a month.
- Feeding dry alone, or as the dry half of a mixed diet with the Canagan cans.
- Not the economical choice for a multi-cat house — the Canagan Country Game 4kg bag we stock works out considerably cheaper per kilo.
Feeding
- Canagan's adult guide by bodyweight: under 2.5kg 25–35g a day; 2.5–3.5kg 35–45g; 3.5–4.5kg 45–60g; over 4.5kg 60g and above.
- Canagan's kitten guide goes by age: under two months 20–30g a day; two to four months 30–55g; four to six months 55–75g; six to twelve months 75g and above.
- At 45g a day a 1.5kg bag lasts roughly 33 days; two cats will empty it in a fortnight or so.
- Introduce over a week: 25% Canagan on day one, half and half on day three, 75% on day five, all Canagan by day seven.
- Canagan advise adjusting by 10% either way if your cat is carrying too much or too little condition.
- Store the bag sealed in a cool, dry place and keep fresh water available at all times.

Care & Caution
- Despite being a duck and game recipe, this food contains chicken gravy at 1.8%, dried herring at 6% and dried egg at 2%. It is not a chicken-free, fish-free or egg-free diet and should not be used as an elimination trial for a cat reacting to any of those.
- If you need a chicken-free wet food, the Canagan tuna cans we stock — Ocean Tuna, Tuna with Crab, Tuna with Mussels, Tuna with Prawns and Tuna with Salmon — carry no chicken in the meat or the broth.
- Dry food supplies almost no water. Keep a bowl away from the food and watch intake closely in a cat with a history of urinary or kidney trouble.
