Canagan Highland Feast Dry Dog Food – 12kg

Highland Feast puts seven animal ingredients into one bag: freshly prepared duck at 14%, freshly prepared turkey at 14%, dried turkey at 11.8%, dried chicken at 7.4%, freshly prepared pheasant at 4.4%, dried salmon at 3.6% and dried herring at 3.6%, with dried egg at 2% on top. Nothing else in the Canagan dry range is built this way.

It is also the richest of them. Crude protein is 35% and crude fat 19%, both the highest figures Canagan declare for a dry dog food, at 397 kcal per 100g. Tapioca, lentils and chickpea appear alongside the sweet potato, which is another thing unique to this recipe. A 12kg bag runs a 30kg dog about six weeks.

Performance & Benefits
  • Seven animal ingredients: duck, turkey, chicken, pheasant, salmon, herring and egg.
  • 35% crude protein and 19% crude fat, the highest of Canagan's dry dog foods, at 397 kcal per 100g.
  • Freshly prepared duck and turkey at 14% each, with pheasant at 4.4%.
  • Glucosamine and MSM at 780 mg/kg each, chondroitin sulphate at 570 mg/kg.
  • Tapioca, lentils and chickpea alongside sweet potato — a broader carbohydrate base than the rest of the range.
  • Grain free, with omega 6 at 2.5% and omega 3 at 0.54%.
<>
Suitable For
  • Hard-working and highly active dogs that need the calories.
  • Fussy eaters, where the variety of meats tends to win where a single-protein food has not.
  • Adults and puppies of any breed size.
  • The opposite of an exclusion diet — with seven animal ingredients it is the wrong food entirely for a dog under investigation for a food reaction. Canagan Scottish Salmon or Grass Fed Lamb narrow things down instead.
  • At 19% fat it is not for an overweight or pancreatitis-prone dog; Canagan Free-Run Chicken Light/Senior at 14% fat is the one to look at.
<>
Feeding
  • Adult maintenance under an hour of exercise: 200g at 20kg bodyweight, 290g at 30kg, 370g at 40kg, 450g at 50kg.
  • Active adults over an hour a day: 240g at 20kg, 350g at 30kg, 420g at 40kg, 540g at 50kg.
  • Puppies by expected adult weight: medium 10–25kg take 215–255g a day, large 25–45kg take 375–430g.
  • Introduce over seven days — with a food this rich, a faster change tends to loosen things up.
  • Because it is energy dense, check condition after a fortnight and cut by 10% if weight is creeping on.
