Canagan Highland Feast Dry Dog Food – 6kg
At 19% crude fat Highland Feast is the richest of the Canagan dry dog recipes — ahead of Dental at 18%, Country Game at 17% and Grass Fed Lamb at 16% — and at 397 kcal per 100g it is also the most energy-dense. That combination suits a dog that struggles to hold weight, and works against one that does not.
The 6kg bag is the working size: a month's food for a 20kg dog on maintenance, or about three weeks for the same dog doing more than an hour a day. Duck and turkey lead the composition at 14% each, with pheasant, salmon, herring and dried egg behind them.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Crude fat 19% and 397 kcal per 100g — the richest recipe in the Canagan dry dog range.
- Duck 14% and turkey 14% freshly prepared, plus dried turkey at 11.8%.
- Dried salmon 3.6% and dried herring 3.6% bring omega 3 to 0.54%.
- Calcium 1.7% and phosphorus 1%, with crude ash at 8%.
- Glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin sulphate all included.
- Taurine added at 1,500 mg/kg and vitamin E at 150 mg/kg.
Suitable For
- Puppies and adults, on Canagan's labelling.
- Dogs that are hard to keep weight on, and dogs in regular work.
- Medium and large breeds eating this as their standard food.
- Households that would rather buy once a month than once a fortnight.
- Too rich for an overweight or sedentary dog — Canagan's Light & Senior recipes are formulated for that, and Insect Protein at 356 kcal per 100g is the leanest food they make.
Feeding
- Canagan's adult guide, in grams a day for maintenance and for active dogs: 5kg 80g/100g, 10kg 120g/150g, 15kg 150g/190g, 20kg 200g/240g, 30kg 290g/350g, 40kg 370g/420g, 50kg 450g/540g.
- Puppy portions run by expected adult weight: 65–90g a day for a toy breed, 145–180g for 5–10kg, 215–255g for 10–25kg and 375–430g for 25–45kg, tapering back to adult rations from around a year.
- Change over across a week: a quarter Canagan on day one, half by day three, three quarters by day five, all of it by day seven.
- Cut the ration by 10% if the dog carries too much weight and raise it by 10% if it carries too little.
- A 6kg bag feeds a 20kg dog for about thirty days on maintenance, or twenty-five days if active.
- Weigh the ration; at 397 kcal per 100g a generous scoop puts weight on quickly.
