Canagan Scottish Salmon – 6kg
The 6kg bag is the size most fish-fed dogs settle on. At Canagan's maintenance rate a 20kg dog takes 200g a day, so a bag runs a month; a 30kg dog at 290g gets about three weeks out of it. The recipe is identical across all three bag sizes — only the pack changes.
What is in it is four fish and no meat: Scottish salmon at 30.5% freshly prepared, dried herring at 12.2%, trout at 6.6% and dried salmon at 5%, with 2% dried white fish, 2% salmon oil and 1.8% salmon stock. Crude protein sits at 29% and fat at 17%, giving 398 kcal per 100g.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Over 60% fish once the salmon oil and salmon stock are counted, with no poultry or red meat.
- Crude protein 29%, crude fat 17%, 398 kcal per 100g.
- Omega 3 2% and omega 6 2.2%, with calcium at 1.64% and phosphorus at 1%.
- Grain free, using sweet potato, peas and potato for carbohydrate.
- Suitable for puppies as well as adults, on Canagan's own labelling.
- 6kg — roughly a month for a 20kg dog in normal work.
Suitable For
- Medium and larger dogs eating 150g a day or more.
- Dogs on a fish diet for skin and coat.
- Dogs being kept away from chicken, turkey, beef and lamb.
- Households feeding one adult dog who want a month between orders.
- Too much for a small dog eating 80g a day to finish while it is fresh — the 2kg bag of the same recipe is the better fit.
Feeding
- Adult maintenance, under an hour of exercise: 80g at 5kg bodyweight, 120g at 10kg, 150g at 15kg, 200g at 20kg, 290g at 30kg, 370g at 40kg and 450g at 50kg.
- Active dogs, over an hour a day: 100g, 150g, 190g, 240g, 350g, 420g and 540g respectively.
- For puppies, Canagan feed by expected adult weight, peaking at 90g for a toy breed, 180g for a small breed, 255g for a medium and 430g for a 25–45kg dog.
- Change over across a week and adjust by 10% either way against body condition.
