Canagan Senior Feast Wet Dog Food – 400g
Senior Feast is the only Canagan dog can with added glucosamine and chondroitin as declared ingredients, both at 1,000 mg/kg. Their other recipes get glucosamine from green lipped mussel alone, which works out at around 100 mg/kg — so this one carries roughly ten times as much. That is the reason to choose it over any of the others for an older dog.
The meat is freshly prepared free-run chicken at 40% and freshly prepared turkey at 20%, 60% poultry in total, with sweet potato, carrot, pea and broccoli around it. Milk thistle, slippery elm, nettle and rosehips are in the botanical list, which is unique to this recipe among the dog cans.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Glucosamine and chondroitin at 1,000 mg/kg each — by far the highest of the Canagan dog cans.
- 60% freshly prepared poultry: 40% free-run chicken and 20% turkey.
- Crude protein 10.2%, crude fat 5.8%, moisture 80%.
- Green lipped mussel, salmon oil and milk thistle in the recipe.
- A complete and balanced food, so it can be fed on its own rather than as a topper.
- Grain free, with sweet potato, carrots, peas and broccoli.
Suitable For
- Older dogs, and adults with early joint stiffness.
- Dogs that need the moisture of a wet food, at 80%.
- Feeding on its own, as a topper over kibble, or alternated with a dry food.
- Canagan label this recipe for adults and seniors only — it is not a puppy food. Canagan Puppy Feast is the wet recipe for a growing dog.
- Contains chicken and turkey, so it is not suitable for a dog avoiding poultry; Canagan Venison and Wild Boar Stew is poultry free.
Feeding
- Adult dogs by size: toy 1–5kg take a quarter to half a can a day, small 5–12kg half to one and a half, medium 12–25kg one and a half to two and three-quarter cans.
- Larger dogs: 25–45kg take two and three-quarter to three and three-quarter cans, giant 45–70kg take three and three-quarter to five and three-quarter.
- Canagan publish no puppy feeding table for this recipe, consistent with it being labelled for adults and seniors.
- Where it is fed as a topper rather than a meal, reduce the dry food to match.
- Introduce over a few days, increasing the proportion of the new food daily.
