Canagan Welsh Lamb Wet Dog Food – 400g
Lamb at 65% and no other meat, in a 400g can of complete grain-free food. Lamb sits usefully outside the chicken-and-beef mainstream, so this is a sensible first move for a dog that has grown intolerant of the proteins in most supermarket tins without needing anything exotic.
It is the richest can in the range: crude fat is declared at 8.5%, a fifth higher than the beef and nearly half again the chicken and wild boar. That richness is exactly what suits a hard-working or poor-doing dog, and exactly what does not suit one that gets loose on fatty food.
<>Performance & Benefits
- 65% freshly prepared lamb as the only animal protein in the tin.
- Crude fat 8.5% — the highest of the five Canagan 400g cans we stock.
- Crude protein 10.2% on 75% moisture, so it is one of the two denser cans in the range.
- Sweet potato, carrots, peas and broccoli rather than cereal.
- Green lipped mussel declared as a source of glucosamine at 100 mg/kg.
- Grain free and free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.
Suitable For
- Adult dogs needing a protein other than chicken or beef.
- Working dogs, poor-doers and dogs that need to put condition back on.
- Dogs on a single-protein lamb trial.
- Feeding complete, or as a topper over a lamb dry food.
- Not the can for a dog that has to be kept lean or that loosens on rich food — Canagan Chicken & Wild Boar Casserole at 5.8% fat is the leaner choice.
Feeding
- Canagan's adult guide, in 400g cans a day: toy 1–5kg a quarter to half a can; small 5–12kg half to one and a half; medium 12–25kg one and a half to two and three quarters; large 25–45kg two and three quarters to three and three quarters; giant 45–70kg three and three quarters to five and three quarters.
- Introduce over a week: 25% Canagan on day one, half and half on day three, 75% on day five, all Canagan by day seven.
- Canagan advise adjusting by 10% either way if your dog is carrying too much or too little condition.
- Serve at room temperature and keep fresh water alongside.
- Refrigerate the opened can and use within two days.

- Canagan's current range lists this 65% lamb 400g can as Lamb Casserole; they publish no product under the name Welsh Lamb, and the figures above are theirs for the 65% lamb recipe.
- Canagan describe the meat only as freshly prepared lamb and claim no country of origin, so none is claimed here.
