Carnilove ACTIVE Duck & Pheasant Grain-Free Dry Dog Food – 1.5kg

Duck is the lead ingredient here at 26% fresh, backed by 14% hydrolysed pheasant protein and 10% duck protein, and three quarters of the total protein in the bag comes from animals rather than peas or chickpeas. That ratio is the number worth comparing between grain-free foods, because a high headline protein figure can be made up largely of pulses.

The 1.5kg bag is the size to start on. It is enough for a fortnight or so for a 10kg dog at Carnilove's 160g a day, which is long enough to see how a dog takes to two game meats without committing to the 12kg sack.

Performance & Benefits
  • 26% fresh duck, with hydrolysed pheasant protein at 14% and duck protein at 10%.
  • Animal protein makes up 75.0% of the total protein, not pulse protein.
  • 34.0% crude protein and 17.0% fat, at 3,830 kcal/kg.
  • Grain-free and potato-free, built on yellow peas and chickpeas instead.
  • Glucosamine from hydrolysed crustacean shells and chondroitin from cartilage extract.
  • Salmon oil at 1% plus linseed for omega-3; omega-6 sits at 3.2%.
<>
Suitable For
  • Adult dogs of any breed, from about 5kg upwards.
  • Dogs that have not previously met duck or pheasant.
  • Owners trying a game recipe for the first time and wanting a small bag.
  • Not a poultry-free or beef-free diet: it contains hydrolysed turkey protein at 4% and beef fat at 12%. For a strictly poultry-free bag, Carnilove ACTIVE Lamb & Wild Boar is the one in this range without turkey.

Feeding
  • Carnilove's daily amounts for an adult dog: 5kg 95g, 10kg 160g, 15kg 220g, 20kg 270g, 25kg 320g, 30kg 370g.
  • Larger dogs: 40kg 460g, 50kg 540g, 60kg 620g, 70kg 695g, 80kg 770g, 90kg 840g.
  • Split the daily amount into two or three meals rather than one.
  • Serve dry, or moistened with lukewarm water if your dog prefers it.
  • Change over gradually across seven to ten days, mixing an increasing share into the old food.
  • Fresh water at all times — a dog eating only dry food drinks considerably more.
