Ostrich is the unusual one. It is a red meat despite coming from a bird, very lean in its own right, and almost nothing else in the wet dog food aisle uses it. Carnilove put it at 26% and pair it with 4% blackberries, which is where the deep colour of the pâté comes from.

On the numbers it sits in the middle of the older 300g line: 10% crude protein, 8% fat, 1,160 kcal/kg. The meat block is 85% in total, of which 59% is turkey — so ostrich is the flavour and the interest, not the bulk of the protein.

Feeding

• Feed at room temperature, complete or split across a dry ration.
• 5kg dog: 1 pouch daily. 10kg: 1½. 15kg: 2. 20kg: 2½.
• 25kg: 3 pouches. 30kg: 3½. 40kg: 4.
• 50kg: 5 pouches. 60kg: 5½. 70kg: 6. 80kg: 7. 90kg: 7½.
• Halve the quantity when feeding it as a complementary food.
• Introduce over several days, refrigerate once opened and keep water available.
