Quail is the lightest-tasting meat in the older Carnilove 300g line, and 4% yellow carrot gives the pâté its pale colour. Despite that delicacy it ties with the buffalo pouch for the highest protein in the group at 11%, while keeping fat down to 7.5%.

That protein-to-fat ratio is what distinguishes it: more protein than the carp version, noticeably less fat than the buffalo or ostrich. The meat declaration is 85% in total, of which 59% is turkey and 26% quail, so the quail is a flavour and a top note rather than the substance of the food.

Feeding

• Feed at room temperature as a complete food or over a dry ration.
• 5kg dog: 1 pouch daily. 10kg: 1½. 15kg: 2. 20kg: 2½.
• 25kg: 3 pouches. 30kg: 3½. 40kg: 4.
• 50kg: 5 pouches. 60kg: 5½. 70kg: 6. 80kg: 7. 90kg: 7½.
• Use about half as much when the pouch supplements dry food.
• Change over gradually, refrigerate an opened pouch and keep water available.
