Duck at 70%, fresh, with no meat meal in the bag. Duck is the useful part: it is a bird protein most cats have never been fed, so a cat that flares on chicken has somewhere to go, and there is no chicken meat and no chicken fat in the recipe.

Two kilos is the size for a cat already settled on it. Energy is 3,608 kcal/kg with 35% crude protein, taurine at 2,500mg/kg and L-methionine at 5,000mg/kg — the sterilised-cat formulation rather than a standard adult one.

Feeding

• Carnilove's guide by bodyweight: 2–3kg 30–45g a day; 3–5kg 45–65g; 5–7kg 65–80g; 7–9kg 80–90g.
• Split across the day rather than putting the whole ration down at once.
• Introduce gradually over about a week when changing from another food.
