Carr & Day & Martin Flygard Extra Strength Insect Repellent – 500ml

Flygard Extra Strength is the most powerful formula Carr & Day & Martin make, and the number that matters is 20% DEET. DEET is the repellent the Armed Forces developed for jungle conditions, and at this concentration it is aimed at maximum protection from midges and biting insects rather than at being gentle.

This is the 500ml trigger bottle. It sprays liberally over the body and applies by cloth to the sensitive places, and Carr & Day & Martin recommend twice-daily application for maximum protection. If your horse copes with a spray and the midges are getting through everything else, this is the strongest thing in the range; if it does not cope with sprays, the Extra Strength Gel carries the same chemistry in a form you apply by hand.

Performance & Benefits
  • 20% DEET — Carr & Day & Martin's most powerful repellent formula.
  • DEET (diethyl-m-toluamide), the active developed by the Armed Forces for jungle conditions.
  • Repels midges and all flying and biting insects effectively.
  • Provides instant protection on application.
  • Maximum protection from twice-daily use.
  • 500ml trigger spray for liberal body application.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses badly bothered by midges, where a gentler repellent is not holding.
  • Peak midge season, dusk and dawn turnout, and low-lying wet ground.
  • Use alongside a fly rug and mask rather than instead of them.
  • Horses that tolerate being sprayed.
  • Not the one for a spray-shy horse or for close work around the face — the Flygard Extra Strength Gel at 10% DEET applies by hand for exactly that; for a horse sensitive to DEET altogether, Citromax uses naturally derived Citriodiol instead.
<>
How to Use
  • Shake well before use.
  • Spray liberally onto the horse, or apply with a cloth.
  • Take care to avoid the eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Apply twice daily for maximum protection.
  • If using for the first time, test on a small area of skin to establish suitability.
<>
Specification
  • 500ml trigger spray.
  • Active: DEET (diethyl-m-toluamide) at 20%.
  • Carr & Day & Martin list Flygard Extra Strength in 500ml and 1 litre.
  • The strongest concentration in the Carr & Day & Martin repellent range.
  • No further formulation detail is published by Carr & Day & Martin, so none is stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • This is a biocidal product. Use biocides safely; always read the label and product information before use.
  • At 20% DEET, avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. Apply around the head with a cloth, never by spraying at the face.
  • Patch test on a small area of skin before the first full application.
  • Do not apply to broken skin, sores or open wounds.
  • Carr & Day & Martin state for the Flygard Extra Strength Gel that DEET is not on the FEI banned or controlled list and carries no withdrawal period; they publish no equivalent statement for this spray, so confirm the current rules with your governing body.
