Carr & Day & Martin Flygard Insect Repellent Spray – 5 Litre

This is the 5 litre container of standard Flygard — the yard size. At that volume it is a refill rather than an applicator: you decant into a trigger bottle and work from that, which is how most yards run a fly spray through a summer across several horses.

The formulation is identical to the 500ml: Citriodiol from Eucalyptus Citriodora oil with citronella oils, water-based, citrus-scented, and carrying the added coat conditioners that make standard Flygard the one Carr & Day & Martin recommend for horses with fly irritation or skin problems. Twice-daily application across a full string is where 5 litres starts to make sense.

<>
Performance & Benefits
  • Five litres of the standard Flygard formulation — the largest size Carr & Day & Martin make it in.
  • Citriodiol from Eucalyptus Citriodora oil, with citronella oils for lasting defence.
  • Added coat conditioners, so repeated daily use does not dry the coat out.
  • Water-based and citrus-scented.
  • Decants into a trigger bottle, so one container covers a whole yard.
  • Provides instant protection on application.
<>
Suitable For
  • Yards, livery and riding schools running several horses through fly season.
  • Anyone who empties a 500ml bottle in a fortnight.
  • Horses with fly irritation or compromised skin, which is what this formulation is aimed at.
  • Twice-daily application across a string all summer.
  • Too much for one horse used occasionally — the 500ml trigger bottle of the same formulation is the sensible size for that.
<>
How to Use
  • Shake well before use.
  • Decant into a clean trigger spray bottle for application.
  • Spray directly onto the horse from about 25cm away.
  • Apply to sensitive areas with a cloth or sponge.
  • Apply twice daily for maximum protection, and test on a small area of skin 24 hours before general use.
<>
Specification
  • 5 litre container.
  • Actives: Citriodiol, produced from Eucalyptus Citriodora oil, with Citronella Oil.
  • Water-based formulation with added coat conditioners.
  • Carr & Day & Martin list Flygard in 500ml and 5 litre; this is the larger of the two.
  • Carr & Day & Martin name the actives but publish no percentage concentrations, so none are stated here.
<>
Care & Caution
  • This is a biocidal product. Use biocides safely; always read the label and product information before use.
  • Decant carefully — a 5 litre container is heavy and awkward, and this is a repellent you do not want running over your hands.
  • Test on a small area of skin 24 hours before general use.
  • Keep it away from the eyes and nostrils, and do not apply to broken skin or open sores.
  • Carr & Day & Martin publish no FEI or BHA statement for standard Flygard, so confirm the current rules with your governing body before competing.
