Copdock Mill Range Layers Pellets with Verm-X – 5kg
The 5kg carry-home pack of Copdock Mill's Range Layers Pellets with Verm-X — the same complete laying ration as the 20kg bag, in a size you can carry from the car in one hand. For three or four hens it is roughly a fortnight's feed.
Buying small has a real advantage beyond the handling. Compound feed loses vitamin activity as it sits, and an opened bag in a damp shed goes stale or mouldy well before it is empty. A bag the flock clears quickly is a bag that stays worth feeding.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Complete layers ration in pellet form, so birds cannot pick and choose.
- 17% crude protein and 4% crude fibre, the same formulation as the 20kg bag.
- Verm-X herbal blend included, with no egg withdrawal period.
- 5kg pack — light to carry and quick for a small flock to clear while fresh.
- Limestone granules and dicalcium phosphate for shell strength.
Suitable For
- Small back-garden flocks of a few hens.
- Anyone trying the feed before committing to a 20kg bag.
- Laying birds from about three weeks before point of lay.
- Keepers without dry, rodent-proof storage for a full sack.
- Not for chicks or growers. Some listings describe this pellet as suiting hens from three weeks of age to point of lay, which is wrong and would harm young birds — Copdock Mill Chick Starter Micros and Growers Pellets cover that period.
Feeding
- Feed ad lib from a feeder, with clean fresh water always available.
- Begin about three weeks before point of lay, which is around 16 to 18 weeks in most laying breeds.
- Copdock Mill publish no gram-per-bird rate for the pellets. Their published figure for Range Layers Mash is a minimum of 120g per hen per day.
- Keep insoluble flint grit available separately for the gizzard.
- Reseal the bag between feeds and use it within a few weeks of opening.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: wheat, hipro soya bean extract, limestone granules, sunflower extract, wheatfeed, dicalcium phosphate, salt, DL-methionine, layers supplement (DSM), oil, with the Verm-X herbal blend.
- Analytical constituents: crude protein 17%, crude oil 4.5%, crude fibre 4%, crude ash 13.5%.
- Vitamin A, vitamin D3, vitamin E, copper, methionine and selenium are declared as additives. Copdock Mill publish no inclusion figures for them, so none are given here.
- Pack size 5kg. Also supplied as a 20kg bag.
- The herbal ingredient list that circulates with this product — garlic, cinnamon, thyme, nettle, cleavers, slippery elm and the rest — is the composition of Verm-X Original pellets, the standalone supplement, and not of this feed.
Care & Caution
- A layers ration is calcium-loaded for birds in lay. Chicks and growers must not have it: a sustained calcium load before point of lay damages the kidneys.
- Verm-X is a herbal blend, not a licensed wormer. Where a worm burden is diagnosed it does not replace a veterinary anthelmintic.
