Dodson & Horrell Breathe Free – 1kg

Breathe Free is a dried herbal blend built around white horehound, coltsfoot, hyssop and red clover heads, the four herbs traditionally fed to horses for the maintenance of healthy airways and lungs. Aniseed and garlic granules carry the smell and the palatability, which matters in a supplement that has to be eaten every day through a long winter.

Dodson & Horrell aim it squarely at the stabled horse: dust, ammonia and limited air movement all bear on the respiratory system, and this is the blend they offer for a horse spending more hours indoors than out. It is fed by scoop into the daily feed at 2 to 2½ scoops, so a 1kg tub covers around three weeks on a larger horse.

Performance & Benefits
  • White horehound, coltsfoot, hyssop and red clover heads, chosen for the maintenance of healthy airways and lungs.
  • Aniseed and garlic granules to help keep airways clear and support immune function.
  • Blackcurrant, apple, pomegranate, rosemary and rosehip added as further plant-sourced ingredients.
  • Dried and milled so it mixes into hard feed or chaff without soaking or preparation.
  • Strongly aromatic, which helps with fussy feeders who pick around powders.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies stabled for long periods, particularly through winter.
  • Horses in dusty environments or on straw bedding.
  • Year-round feeding as part of a normal ration.
  • Not for mares in foal. This is a herbal supplement and not a treatment — a horse with a persistent cough, nasal discharge or laboured breathing needs a vet, not a feed additive.
<>
Feeding
  • Ponies and smaller horses: 2 scoops per day, about 34g.
  • Larger horses: 2½ scoops per day, about 42.5g.
  • One 100ml scoop weighs 17g.
  • Mix into the daily feed and feed continuously rather than only on bad days.
  • Do not exceed the stated rate without consulting Dodson & Horrell or your vet.

Care & Caution
  • Do not feed to mares in foal.
  • Coltsfoot is restricted or prohibited in some competition disciplines and in some countries. Check the current rules before feeding to a competing horse.
  • Garlic fed at high rates over long periods has been associated with changes to red blood cells; keep to the stated scoop rate.
