Dodson & Horrell Build Up Conditioning Mix – 20kg

A cereal-based conditioning mix at an estimated 12.5 MJ/kg, 13% protein and 5.5% oil, for horses and ponies that have lost weight or are prone to losing it. Condition goes for all sorts of reasons — cold weather, a bare paddock, a stressful move, a step up in work, or something clinical such as worms or poor teeth — and this is the feed for putting it back on steadily rather than in a rush.

The energy is deliberately slow-release, coming substantially from oil and digestible fibre alongside the cereals, so weight goes on without the horse becoming sharp. Added L-lysine supports muscle and top-line rather than just fat cover, and live Actisaf yeast keeps the hindgut working while the ration increases. Results are best when the feed is paired with a sensible exercise programme.

Performance & Benefits
  • Estimated 12.5 MJ/kg with 13% protein and 5.5% oil for condition and slow-release energy.
  • Added L-lysine promotes muscle condition and top-line, not just fat cover.
  • Probiotic live Actisaf yeast supports digestive health and efficiency.
  • Fully fortified with vitamins and minerals, so it does not unbalance the ration.
  • Dried carrots and molasses keep it palatable for a fussy feeder.
<>
Suitable For
  • Horses and ponies that have lost, or are prone to losing, weight and condition.
  • Horses coming back into work and needing to build top-line.
  • Poor doers through winter or after a stressful change of home.
  • Can be fed alongside Build & Glow where extra calories are wanted.
  • Not suitable for laminitic or starch-sensitive horses — CushCare Condition is the low-starch route to the same goal.
<>
Feeding
  • Feed 400g–1kg per 100kg bodyweight per day with free access to forage.
  • Do not exceed 1kg per 100kg bodyweight per day in total.
  • Divide into at least two to three meals a day.
  • Maintain a minimum forage intake of 2kg per 100kg bodyweight per day.
