A coarse conditioning crumble for the underweight horse that cannot have starch. Calories come from oil and fibre rather than cereals, which makes it one of the few genuine weight-gain feeds a laminitis-prone or Cushingoid horse can be fed safely — most conditioning feeds solve the calorie problem by adding grain, and grain is exactly what these horses cannot tolerate.

Beyond the calories it is built around the problems that come with the condition. Soya lecithin supports fat digestion and absorption, cinnamon and chaste tree berries give nutritional support to metabolism, the patented QLC antioxidant package with vitamin E, vitamin C and selenium supports the immune system, and glucosamine, omega-3 and Mobility herbs support joints. It can be fed dry or mixed into a mash.

Suitable For

• Underweight horses and ponies needing a lower starch, lower sugar diet.
• Horses prone to laminitis.
• Horses with PPID that have lost topline and condition.
• Horses with poor teeth, where it is fed as a mash.

Feeding

• Feed 400g–1kg per 100kg bodyweight per day with free access to forage.
• Feed dry, or make a mash by adding water at 50ml per 100g of feed.
• Do not exceed 1kg per 100kg bodyweight per day in total.
• Divide into at least two to three meals a day.
• Introduce gradually over 7–10 days.
