Dodson & Horrell Just Grass Chaff – 12.5kg
Dried grass and nothing else — a blend of timothy, fescue and perennial ryegrass, naturally dried and chopped, with no molasses, no oil coating and no straw bulking it out. At an estimated 10 MJ/kg with 13.5% protein and 7g/kg lysine it is a good deal more nutritious than a straw-based chaff, which is why it suits horses in work and poor doers rather than good doers on a diet.
The chop length is the other half of the point. A long, fibrous chaff takes real chewing, and chewing produces saliva, which buffers stomach acid — useful for any horse that bolts a bucket feed. It can go in alongside a concentrate to slow the meal down, or be fed in quantity as a partial forage replacer.
<>Performance & Benefits
- Estimated 10 MJ/kg with 13.5% protein and 25% crude fibre.
- High in easily digestible protein at 7g/kg lysine, supporting muscle mass.
- Naturally calorific enough to support medium to hard work or weight gain.
- Long fibrous chop encourages chewing and saliva production, supporting gastric health.
- No added molasses and no straw, so it stays palatable for fussy feeders.
